H. Lorenzo is honored to showcase the uncompromising textile narrative of London based conceptual clothing artist, Aitor Throup. The Shiva Skull Bag installation will introduce the LA fashion guild to Throup’s lauded design manifesto and his anticipated menswear product line, New Object Research, a label arisen from 6 years of compulsory development.
Innovating singular garments instead of collections, displaying products in provoking new environments, and exercising a strict design philosophy with a traceable narrative of utility are the machinations of illustrator, sculptor and designer, Aitor Throup. “Things have never been stitched together like this before; I don’t want to have the pressure of creating a new concept every six months,” Throup has said of his ergonomically informed discipline and its place in the fashion industry. To circumvent the seasonal demands for newly conceived garments, the Argentina born designer is slowly amassing a ‘concept archive’ of timeless designs, which can be endlessly reimagined, a process that “confronts the conventions of the genre.”
Join us Saturday, March 9th at H.Lorenzo where the artist will be in person featuring the very first archetype of his promising New Object Research label, a skull shaped military inspired bag for men that elegantly communicates both his anatomic subject matter and his devoted functional design principles. For the first time the Shiva Skull Bag, as well as framed illustrations from his London studio, will be available for purchase exclusively at H.Lorenzo as his part global exhibition of Throup's pioneering designs.
